Hello and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Paraskevi Kourmpeti, but you can call me Friday.
I was born and raised in Athens, Greece, where I spent most of my childhood and teenage years painting every wall I could find, altering my ballet tutus so I could slip them into my daily outfits, and making jewellery and headpieces by "stealing" copper from my dad’s electrical wires and wool from my mom’s knitting supplies.

My artistic journey began at the University of West Attica, where I completed my studies in the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts. While working in studio photography—fashion, art, and conceptual projects—and short films as a crew member—on student and independent productions—I gradually discovered a new passion for costume. This led me to attend the Professional School of Kaisariani, where I received my diploma in pattern cutting and tailoring.
For nearly a decade, I worked in Athens as a cutter, seamstress, and costume maker for fashion companies, theatre, advertising, and themed events. At the same time, I ran my own atelier, creating custom-made garments and costumes, as well as a small fashion brand with limited prêt-à-porter collections. During this period, I developed a strong interest in traditional and historical costume, which led me to travel across Greece. I had the honour and pleasure of meeting people with exceptional knowledge of textiles, raw materials, and jewellery, many of whom generously shared old-school techniques and invaluable craftsmanship secrets with me.
In 2017, I moved to the UK, where I completed an MFA in Performance Costume at the University of Edinburgh, with a strong focus on research, design, and textiles. It was there that I was able to fully integrate my greatest love—drawing and painting—into my practice, discovering costume concept art. I fell in love with giving flesh and blood not only to my own ideas, but also to those of others, creating characters through shape, colour, and textile.
Over the past years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to work in wonderful projects alongside talented creatives in fashion, theatre, and television, something that has shaped me both professionally and artistically.
I am currently working as a traditional illustrator and concept artist, as well as a costume maker.
